Kentucky's men's basketball team is headed to the White House to celebrate winning the school's eighth national championship.
President Obama announced Tuesday he will host the team Friday afternoon with a ceremony.
Kentucky coach John Calpari was excited to visit the nation's capitol as one of the perks of his team's defeat of Kansas last month in New Orleans.
"The amazing thing is the first thing that was said when the horn sounded in New Orleans was, 'We're going to the White House,' " Calipari said in a release.
"It's one of those moments for these players that they have probably thought about without us even knowing that it was important to them. So I'm excited about the opportunity for them to meet the President of the United States, the Leader of the Free World and someone who is trying to make a difference in their lives."
